God Sent Bread
Before He sent instructions.
Dear Loved One,
By any measure, Elijah had just experienced the greatest victory of his ministry.
He had called down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel, stood alone against 450 prophets of Baal, ended a three-year drought, and watched an entire nation turn back to God.
Then one message arrived.
Jezebel said, “By this time tomorrow, you will be dead.”
And Elijah ran.
He sat beneath a tree and prayed a prayer that surprises many of us: “It is enough. Take my life.”
What happened next is one of the most compassionate moments in Scripture.
God did not correct him, remind him of Mount Carmel, or rebuke his lack of faith. He sent an angel. With bread and water. Twice.
God knew Elijah still needed direction. But first, he needed strength.
The journey wasn’t over. But neither was God’s care for His servant.
We have built a version of faith that equates exhaustion with sacrifice and busyness with devotion, as though the measure of faithfulness is how little you rest.
But Elijah travelled forty days and forty nights on the strength of that bread and water.
The rest was not a delay. It was the fuel.
Have a great week!
Shalom,
Ayo Daniels
